The church organism, like all other organisms must grow according to her nature. God, and God alone, using men as instruments can cause a church to grow. It has truly been God who has brought Corinth this far on the way and we give Him all of the praise and glory. For without His divine guidance, the Corinth that you see today would not exist. Serenely, solidly and stately, like a sentinel in the midst of the fast movement of time, she has played her part in helping to ease burdens, solve problems and meet the demands of many of these individuals: offering Christian fellowship, spiritual guidance, teaching, training and love: a church where you will always find a warm welcome. The church building was on the corner of 4th and White Sands Boulevard, then Pennsylvania Avenue. The property on which the present church stands was purchased from the school system. Today, after seventy-eight years of Christian service, Corinth is a symbol of the “city that sits on a hill” with the light of her various ministries shedding rays throughout this community, state, nation and even in foreign fields-a beacon beckoning to all who have a need of her love and protection. ROLL CALL OF PASTORS: Rev. Watson, Rev. Hughes, Rev. Wright, Rev. Mattox, Rev. Fred Williams, Rev. A.D. Willis, Rev. Theodore Holly, next and still on the roll is our pastor, Rev. James E. Forney, one of the sons of Corinth who accepted the pastorate after Pastor Holly. PRESENT HISTORY: Corinth’s accomplishments from July 2005 to July 2006 have been enriched through the blessings of our Lord, the pastor and the Corinth membership. Some of these blessings are new converts, new members, revivals, and study courses. In addition to these great accomplishments, the church was blessed by Brothers and Sisters Louis and Jean Branch and Syl and Candy Branch in the renovation of the church fellowship hall. The painting, blinds, cabinets and wall holders and trim along with new countertop and moldings are awesome. Thank you Branch family. In addition, Deacons Kershaw Washington and Ronald Williams accepted their call into the gospel ministry. The church family, along with some generous donations by former members of Corinth has helped us to actively pursue a new educational learning facility. As well as excelling on the local level, Corinth Baptist Church has also made admiral gains statewide and nationally: Pastor and Sister Forney, along with Vernice Adams and Dr. Richard Gorham wrote a chapter in a newly released book entitled “Marriage Matters; It’s God’s Will. The book is now available for $15.00 per copy. The church continues to actively support district, state, national conventions and foreign mission. |
